Sherman Howell is a freelance writer who addresses social and political issues that affect minority communities at the local, national and global levels. He serves as the Vice President of Research and Agenda Planning for the African American Coalition of Howard County (AACHC).

     Sherman has served on numerous boards and commissions for Columbia (MD), Howard County and Maryland. For over forty years in Howard County, he has frequently testified before state and local elected bodies to raise awareness of key issues. He is frequently quoted in the media, including the Washington Post, the Dallas Morning News, the Baltimore Sun, The Business Monthly.

     Sherman was actively involved in the Civil Rights Movement, including the Selma to Montgomery March. In 2015, he was invited to speak at the screening of Selma in Howard County. Also, he was the founder and long-term editor of the Commitment, the official newsletter of the Howard County NAACP.

    Sherman resides in Columbia, MD, with his wife. He has a B.A. and M.A. from American University where he acquired the depth of his knowledge in software development, finance and foreign policy.
